Anna Wolf Interview with South African Singer
SUNRAY MAGAZINE has the pleasure to interview to a hypnotic performer with passion and style, a singer with hauntingly beautiful vocals, the fantastic South African singer Anna Wolf.

SUNRAY: Tell us about yourself
Anna: I was born in South Africa now based in London. I would consider myself to be an alternative musician. I use songwriting as a medium to heal past wounds or help connect the dots for others. I am here to serve through my music and to pay it forward. Music saved my life and hopefully my music would be able to do the same for others.
SUNRAY: When did you decide to be a singer?
Anna: Anna: I decided at age 13 that I wanted to be a singer. I signed my first record deal at age 14 and learned very quickly how the music industry worked. I have an accumulation of beautiful and growing experiences, all of them truly helped shape me into the musician and performer I am today.
SUNRAY: Who is your favorite singer that inspired you to be in the music industry?
Anna: Without a doubt, Johnny Cash.
SUNRAY: Are you the composer of all your songs?
Anna: I have always been the sole composer to my work, recently, however, I have had a few opportunities to collaborate with writers and producers. I believe that it is good to keep the momentum in collaboration going in order to grow and expand not only as a musician but as a human being. Working with various talented writers will help you discover aspects of yourself that you perhaps did not know were even there. At the end of the day we are all in this together.
SUNRAY: We know your single “Believer” is so special to you, can you talk about it?
Anna: You are right, Believer is very special to me. It was the very first song I wrote under my stage name Anna Wolf as I used to sing under another stage name called, Tailor. Believer speaks of domestic violence, finding the inner strength within any dark and questionable moment and knowing that you are indeed as strong as you know yourself to be. It’s in the quiet moments of transition that we find stillness and it’s through this split second that the light starts to creep in.
SUNRAY: For the first time in Unsigned Only’s history, the 2019 Grand Prize is awarded to a South African artist, How did you feel winning it?
Anna: My first response was, you are f***ing kidding me. I was beside myself. My sister actually entered me into the competition, so by the time the winners were announced I completely forgot about.
Don’t you just love it when you let go of something and then, BOOM it comes back and it’s yours?!!! It was an awesome experience and I would advise any artist to take part in it.
SUNRAY: What is your dream as singer?
Anna: I only really dream when I sleep not when I am awake.
SUNRAY: Do you have any upcoming projects?
Anna: I have an amazing body of work that I am doing with producer Matthew Fink. The EP is called, ROMANCE WAS BORN. Dropping end of June 2021. I can’t wait to share it with my fellow wolves and with you, Sunray!
