SUNRAY MAGAZINE has the big pleasure to interview the young Director and Actor Michael Bolten.
Hi Michael thanks for this interview
SUNRAY: Talk us about you
Michael: Thank you for the time to interview our team. It’s a great privilege to be creating and making films these days with all the new technology and equipment out there. I started as an actor in Hollywood and then became intrigued with film making so here I am today enjoying all phases of the industry including stunt driving.
SUNRAY: When started your passion for the Cinematography ?
Michael: As much as I enjoyed acting, I soon realized that I could be creative behind the camera which gave me the desire to use my talents in a different and challenging way.
I’ve always been fascinated by how the lens of a camera sees things and how it can tell a story. I learned how important lighting is in the making of telling the story of what I want the audience to enjoy.
SUNRAY: We know you are friend of the guys from the wonderful rock band “Palaye Royale” and also the cinematographer of their videos with Harrison Sanborn, talk us about your friendship with the guys and how is to work with them?
Michael: I’ve known Harrison for over 10 years and we have the ability to blend our collective talents in the making of films and videos. Our recent Palaye Royale collaborations have been exciting to work on and we are currently developing new projects with the group.
SUNRAY: What equipment do you currently use?
Michael: I currently use ARRI ALEXA and SONY high end digital cameras and equipment. I’ve used Reds and other equipment but like the look of what I’m currently using.
SUNRAY: What means the cinematography to you?
Michael: I worked with award winning directors Rob Reiner, Scott Hicks, and Wally Pfister to name a few and learned a lot from their creative approaches. Photography is a way of sharing your creative perception of what you see so it is intriguing to see what the camera can capture.
SUNRAY: Do you have any upcoming projects?
Michael: ’m also working on a feature film and another project in New York this summer in between music videos and special projects If you love what you do you will never “work” a day in your life. (Haha)
SUNRAY: Tell us where we can find you (social network, websites…)
Michael: Social Network:
