Bernice Liu Hong Kong Actress Interview

SUNRAY MAGAZINE has the pleasure to interview the beautiful actress Berenice Liu
Hi Bernice thanks for this interview

SUNRAY: Tell us about you
Bernice: So happy to see fans from Argentina! I haven’t been there yet but would love
to come and visit  I love to travel, and you know I’m crazy about wine & food, so
exploring a country I haven’t been to is very exciting. Hopefully when the covid
restrictions relax a bit, I can come!

SUNRAY: When did you decided that you want to become an actress?
Bernice: Actually, I’ve always loved performing. I used to stand on my dad’s restaurant
countertop and sing to the customers, but I never thought that I would have a career in
the entertainment industry. I went to school and wanted to become a doctor, but I
guess it was fate because one of my first serious drama shows was actually a doctor!

SUNRAY: What do you like about acting the most?
Bernice: What I like about acting the most is that I can become whoever I want to be. I
know it may sound a bit child-like, but my parents always told me to dream big and
follow my dreams. You can become whatever you want if you put your mind to it, and I guess when I did decide to make this my career and see where it would take me, you
really don’t hear “no” or “can’t” anymore. From one drama to the next tv series… to
even getting to try movies and singing… you start to say “why not?”!!

SUNRAY: Did you take up any training in acting?
Bernice: I actually did get a chance to take up some proper acting training in Vancouver
during my university years. I stayed in Vancouver for the summer instead of going back
home to Prince Rupert, BC and decided why not do a summer course to brush up on
my speaking skills as I thought it would help in my presentations and I had a couple of
friends that I danced with that also joined as well.

SUNRAY: As an professional actress you were part of several movies, since 2002,
My Wife is 18, King of Fighters, The Legend is Born:Ip Man, Lost in the Pacific, just to
mention a few, What techniques do you use to create a believable character?
Bernice: As an actress, depending on what the character needs I will adjust. For
example, The Legend is Born: Ip Man and King of Fighters I definitely needed to be in
shape and trained for about 3 months (on top of my regular routine) to get into shape
and learn the type of martial arts my character needed. For the comedic and less
physical characters, it didn’t take as much physical training, but character profiling
would be needed.

SUNRAY: You have experience acting in television and films, what do you preffer?
Bernice: I really enjoy trying different things such as television and films. It’s very
different preparation because usually the tv I’m in runs for a longer period with
sometimes projects such as a sitcom may not have a definite ending until they test the
audience response. On the otherhand, films have a full script with an ending and with
that knowing your character and how it will progress gives the actor/actress a better
idea as to where to take the character. Hence, mixing up the projects now and again
keeps us on our toes as actors/actresses 😉

SUNRAY: Which is your best role so far?

Bernice: I wouldn’t say I’ve had my best role so far, but I can say that to the Asian
audience and communities, the most memorable role would be of Princess in the
Virtues of Harmony sitcom. It was my first acting project, and it really won the hearts of
everyone who turned on the television and fell in love with this sitcom!

SUNRAY: You have won some awards, just mention, World Influencers and Bloggers
Award (2021) Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012), Champion of Miss
Chinese Vancouver (2000) and Miss Chinese International (2001), How does it feel
when you earn awards?
Bernice: To win a competition or be recognized with an award is very much a honor and
encouragement. To be acknowledged by the community/peers/profession is just as
rewarding in a sense that what you work so hard for, goes noticed and it does feel
somewhat like an accomplishment. I think the most important satisfaction comes from
those steppingstones or “little steps” that allow us to further our passion for our
profession as well as the ability to use these titles and influence to do good in the
community such as charities and awareness movements which are very dear to my

SUNRAY: We know you were part of several commercials of important brands
as Nike (Austral/Asia), Lactacyd (HK/Macau/Taiwan), Perfect Shape (HK/Macau/China),
Neutrogena (HK), Nutox (Malaysia), Voir (Malaysia), Gucci, Bulgari, Bottega, Veneta,
Chanel, etc, tell us about that experience
Bernice: Being in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, it’s really due to the
support of my fans, supporters, brands, family, etc. I’ve been really blessed to travel and
be known in so many parts of the world. From sporting and health brands to fashion
and beauty, I’m just so thankful to have such a fulfilling experience in the years I have
been in entertainment, and hope that representing the female, entrepreneur,
independent, self-loving empowered individuals that we are shows that we are here to

SUNRAY: What is the best advice you could give to a young ambitious actress or
actor who is looking to develop and further his career in this sector?
Bernice: The industry really has changed over the past few years and acting has
become a very wide-ranged industry. The cable and online industry have widened the
platform in that many small or indy productions are very successful. I guess my advice
is to try anything and even if it seems like a small budget or small production project,
give it a try… you never know!

SUNRAY: Anything in works that you can talk about? Any exciting new projects?
Bernice: Well, I’ve also expanded my wine passion into the platform
which is an online platform for winelovers who want to learn, exchange, and even buy
wine and wine related products. Here I also engage in livechat sessions across the
world due to the effects of covid and the wineworld having to stop flying. To aid
merchants and the F&B world which were hit hard by covid, I created this platform to
“keep the conversation going” and allow both sides of the industry to continue to
communicate and exchange information.

For acting, I will soon be shooting a new drama which was part of a series. It was put
on hold due to covid, but will soon pick up again 

SUNRAY: From the WIBA 2021, we found out you have been producing wine for
over 10 years. Please tell us more about this!
Bernice: Yes! It was such an honor to receive the “Cross-Border Wine Influencer 2021”
award! It is much more meaningful because it was awarded in Cannes during the film
festival which brought both of my worlds together. Mr. Sasha Waseem has been an
international organizer of such events for many years and when there was this
opportunity to introduce Asian Media platforms to this organization, I was so delighted!
Wine has been a passion of mine for many years and it really is a symbol of bringing
family and friends together for celebrations and gatherings. Not only have I been able
to do many charity events and auctions with my wine, it has opened the world to new
friendships and collaborations that I hope can help more and more people in need.

SUNRAY: Tell us where we can find you
Bernice: You can find me on my livechats and my IGTV live @berniceliuofficial ! You
